"Wait don't through your gel eyeliner just yet... it needs revival not dustbin"

Your creamy gel eyeliner that hasn't expired can be revived.

Out of all types of eyeliners in the market, such as pencil eyeliner, ink, liquid, etc., gel eyeliner, in my opinion, is a bold choice; it’s a game changer. You can achieve beautifully defined eyes if your gel eyeliner glides like butter on the lids. I personally love it for its intense pigment, smudge-proof, and sweat-proof qualities, and also, it doesn’t irritate my eyes after hours.
It gives you more control so that you can have the shape you like, whether a winged, a smudged smoky look, or a dramatic cat-eye.

But what to do if your gel eyeliner gets dry from time to time? Does this mean it has gone bad? No, it’s common for gel eyeliner to get dry if exposed longer. Have you ever noticed that makeup artists scoop out the eyeliner for use and quickly put the lid on? It’s only to prevent it from drying out.

Today I'm going to provide three quick tips that will restore the creamy and smooth texture of your eyeliner and it will still be smudge proof and waterproof.
Additionally, I'll reveal that despite the fact that it has not expired, why after months of use it loses its texture and gets dry.

What makes eyeliner dry?

There can be multiple reasons but according to me there are only two main reasons:

1. Contact With Air

Since it will come into contact with air while you use it, you cannot prevent your eyeliner from drying out.
Don't throw it out just yet because the components that kept it creamy either have evaporated or hardened due to cold weather, leaving you with hard-textured eyeliner.

2. Quality

The quality of the ingredients used is important; the short shelf life could be caused because of the poor ingredients.

Certain brands have a potential to dry out more quickly after a few months of use.
Never purchase eye makeup from companies who don't list the components in their products.
Always keep an eye out for components that are non-toxic and non-allergenic.

You can't get the artistic eyeliner look you want with dried-out eyeliner since it's extremely tough to work with and can cause tugging, skipping, and uneven application.

I’ll share some tips that can revive your dried eyeliner instantly and are safe.

1. Hot Water:

It’s an instant remedy for the last moment, take a bone china dish, pour some hot water in it and then dip your eyeliner jar in it for 5-7 minutes. Take it out with a spoon. Your gel eyeliner is as new as it was before. You can do this again if it dries out after some months.

2. Castor Oil:

Castor oil is rich in fatty acids and proficient in keeping your eyeliner creamy for a longer time. All you have to do is add 2 drops of castor oil in the jar and mix it well with the help of a Q-tip with no cotton bud on it or you can use anything of metal to avoid messiness.
If the consistency is not creamy as you like, add one drop.

3. Eye drop:

This is for those who may not like the idea of adding castor oil drops. You can add eye drops instead. And mix it well using a make-up mixing spatula.
If eyeliner gets dry again, you can repeat the process anytime.

I hope these three methods will make your day, it's a tried and tested method...

I always use Loreal gel eyeliner, it suits me and it gives me a dense, deep and longer staying clean stroke. It also doesn’t dry out that easily.
Another tip to prevent it from becoming hard is always keep the lid tightly sealed and whenever you’re using it make sure you keep it covered. I always put the lid on the top after taking out the eyeliner on the brush.
