Vicky Kaushal opens up about his childhood in a podcast interview with Raj Shamani, that as a young kid he always enjoyed performing on stage and that he knew what he wanted to do with his life.

He mentioned that it was advantageous for him to know the harsh reality of the industry because he was born into a family where everyone is working in the industry. He says, “You know the bitter truth that it’s not all glam and glitter; there is a flip side to it.”

He adds that he was born in a chawl, in a room of 10 x 10 in Malad, Malvani, and growing up, he has seen how the room became home. He recalled, the struggle never remained hidden in his family and that was an advantage for him, he learned and became fully aware that nothing in life comes easily.

While sharing his life lessons and childhood experience, he also showed gratitude towards the opportunity of working with Anurag Kashyap as an assistant director on the set of “Gang of Wasseypur” because, at that time, he wanted to learn how movies are made from a script to a reel. He said he got the opportunity to work as an assistant director not because of his father’s name but because of his willingness and talent.

The fans, however, don’t agree on these two things. Fans have to say that he is making this all up, playing the “outsider card” to promote his movie Bad News. To gain more attention from the audience, he is pretending that he comes from a middle-class family, and he knows the struggle like any middle-class family does. So that people can find him relevant and be empathetic towards him.

Fans also mentioned he is the son of Sham Kaushal, who is an action movie director and was very successful in the 90s.
Sham Kaushal debuted his career in Bollywood in the 1980s and has given so many hits ever since. He would choreograph stunts in action movies; in fact, he began his career as a stuntman and reached the heights of success gradually.

Sham Kaushal has been associated with big blockbuster movies such as Slumdog Millionaire, 3 Idiots, PK, 7 Khoon Maaf, etc.

Sham Kaushal also worked in Gangs of Wasseypur as a stunt director. So fans find it hard to believe that Vicky Kaushal got the job with Anurag Kashyap without any background in industry.

Although, if we look back at the story of his childhood, what he told about living in a chawl and growing up as a middle-class kid would make sense because Sham Kaushal started his career as a stunt director with Indrajaalam in 1990, which was his first break in the movie as a director.

Before that, he was not very well known; he worked as a stuntman for a long time in the industry. The success didn’t come to his father so easily; he worked hard for it.

However, the part where Vicky Kaushal said that he got the opportunity to start in Bollywood as an assistant director because of his willingness to work in movies and not because of his father is all made up and sounds untrue.

It is true that he is not an outsider, but he is making these stories, which reminds us of Ranveer Singh, who also claimed to be an outsider to promote himself and avoid hatred for back-to-back opportunities because of nepotism. But later on, this “outsider card” game backfired when fans dug more and found out he built his whole fan base based on a lie.

This is one of the reasons he is hated, apart from his toxic and immature behavior in public.

Vicky Kaushal does have the talent, and he rules over his fans' hearts; however, this kind of PR strategy might turn into a fiasco too.

After the release of Uri: The Surgical Strike, Vicky Kaushal achieved stardom. A little known fact about him is that he starred opposite Richa Chadda in Masaan, which was his first major role; however, the fame came from the movie “Uri: The Surgical Strike,” which became a global sensation and hence was declared a super blockbuster. The film grossed approximately ₹359.73 crore from all theaters.

His new movie Bad News, a comedy movie, has failed to impress the audience, as they called it vulgar and soft porn. They find the movie below average due to the script. People who went to watch the movie said the movie was enjoyable only before the interval, but after that, it was all drag and nothing made sense.

The movie is about heteropaternal superfecundation, which is a rare scenario; however, turning it into a comedy movie didn’t work well as the focus went straight to the hypocrisy of Bollywood. Normalizing casual sex with multiple partners is okay, as is using nudity and soft porn scenes to attract people to watch the movie.

Is Bad News movie a hit or flop?

The movie has flopped on the screen and is barely making any impression on the audience. It’s a one-time watch, so if you have time, you can waste your money; otherwise, you can wait for it to come on OTT.

According to Jargan reports, the movie has already been acquired by an OTT platform, Amazon Prime Movies.
